FAQs
What involvement do parents have in the nursery?
Parental involvement in the life of the nursery is encouraged and greatly appreciated. As parents, you are the experts on your child, so we aim to enjoy an ongoing dialogue with you during daily handovers and via our Complete Guide book about your child so that your input can help our educators support your child effectively. Every six months we will have a developmental meeting with you to discuss your child in detail. We also host group events such as parent evenings twice a year, a party at Christmas and an outing during the late summer which we invite parents to join!
Are formula milk and nappies included?
We provide baby formula and bottles in accordance with your baby’s individual needs, and this is included in our fees. We can also store expressed breast milk. However, we feel that babies should use the same nappy type they are already familiar with at home, whether this be disposable or washable, so we ask you to supply nappies for your child whilst they are at nursery.
Can I leave my buggy or scooter?
Yes. Buggies and scooters can be left at the nursery during the day. Please note that buggies and scooters are left at your own risk.
How will my child sleep at nursery?
They will sleep well! This is one of the mysteries of life at Newpark. Babies enjoy a special low wooden cot called a Dream Coracle that once they are mobile they can crawl in and out of, encouraging self-regulation and independence. We follow your child’s unique sleep routine when they first join us, and so are able to have a nap whenever they need one; a familiar adult is always on hand to help little ones drift off to sleep. As children grow older they tend to drop to one nap after lunch and sleep on a comfortable mattress bed on the floor. Sleeping children are monitored at all times by a nearby adult in the same room, and are never left alone.
How do you support children with SEND?
Our settings welcomes children with SEND and we are committed to working with parents and other professionals to provide good inclusive practice. We provide a positive and welcoming environment where children are supported according to their individual needs. Each child is planned for individually to ensure their needs are met and they continue to develop and thrive. Our staff are well informed and suitably trained to help support parents with special educational difficulties. Staff are trained regularly on tracking children's ongoing development in all areas of the EYFS and highlighting any signs of delay or SEN for each individual child. In addition to working closely with our local authority link area SENCo who provides us with support, advice and training regarding children with SEND, we also work closely with external professionals for guidance and support for individual children.

Two consecutive days is the minimum attendance per week children may attend, because we believe anything less than this does not give children the opportunity to settle in properly. This is also the reason we do not offer half day places. Our usual attendance is full-time five days per week, however part-time places of 2, 3, or 4 days per week are available on request. 2 and 3 day places must be consecutive days and begin on a Monday or end on a Friday. 4 day places are Monday-Tuesday-Thursday-Friday only.

Newpark Childcare does not have a catchment area or a requirement for our families to live locally. We believe in equality of opportunity; children and families are all valued, regardless of gender, race, religion, culture, ethnicity, disability, or socio-economic background. When considering an application for a place, we will consider any extenuating circumstances affecting the child’s welfare or his or her family and our ability to provide any additional facilities required for the welfare of that child.
Priority in admissions will be given to full-time places and to siblings of children currently, then previously, on our register. Priority for space will also be given to existing clients who wish to increase their tenure.
Immunisation: We only admit children who have commenced and subsequently follow the Government Health Department’s current recommended schedule of childhood immunisations, including following the recommended ages to immunise within this schedule.
