Newpark Montessori
Nursery School
Chiswick
We are proud to welcome our new nursery to the Newpark family. Our lovely nursery school is a sympathetically converted and restored Victorian building, which nestles in the peaceful surroundings of Orchard Place off of Thornton Avenue behind Chiswick High Road and offers children space to grow, develop and learn. The nursery is conveniently located close to Turnham Green station and is served by several local buses on Turnham Green Avenue and Chiswick High Road.

Newpark Montessori Nursery School opened in 2023. The nursery has two spacious and beautifully equipped classrooms; a dedicated Infant Community for our babies and toddlers which opens directly onto our shaded garden, and a Montessori School for our pre-school children with its own roof terrace.

Children progress through a series of specially designed materials that help them advance academically in areas such as literacy and numeracy as well as helping them to develop their independence, concentration and social skills. We firmly believe the Montessori Method provides all the appropriate challenges children need to prepare them for primary school and later life.

Our Infant Community classroom is a beautiful open plan room with large windows overlooking the garden and a wonderful aquarium at children’s level to soothe and amaze our babies.
There is a large area for creative activities including drawing, craft, painting, sand and water play and other wonderfully messy activities! This area also doubles as our dining area. Other areas of the main room include a home corner for role play supporting language and social development, a book corner, a quiet area for babies to sleep, bottle feed and enjoy heuristic play, a Montessori practical life area, a problem solving area for children to explore science and early numeracy, a place for construction and a large ramp and stair for whole body physical development.
Our philosophy encourages our educators to interact with babies and children at their level and to promote children’s independence, so all play, activities and eating take place at specially designed low tables and chairs, or on floor mats.
Children move on to the light, airy Montessori preschool classroom upstairs when they are ready to work with more advanced Montessori materials. This stunning learning space offers a rich, broad curriculum incorporating Practical Life, Sensorial, Maths, Language, Culture, Science, Geography, Botany and Art.
There is a school children’s bathroom fitted with five WCs and wash basins, all at low level for young children’s use. In the Infant Community we also have nappy changing facilities and potties for toilet learning. Children are encouraged to observe high standards of personal hygiene by washing their hands before and after meals, after using the toilet or potties and by cleaning their teeth during the day.
In the kitchen our chef prepares all the babies’ and children’s meals from scratch on-site every day.

Our garden to the front provides a safe and secure environment for a variety of outdoor activities that enrich our children's learning and development.
On the first floor we have created a wonderful shaded roof terrace, open to the elements, for children to play and to grow their own seeds and bulbs.
A short distance away is Chiswick Common - a perfect outdoor location for escorted excursions.
-
As a new nursery, we are yet to be inspected. Ofsted aims to inspect all new childcare providers within 30 months of registration.
-
As a new nursery, we are not eligible to apply for Montessori accreditation until our school class is established with a certain number of children. As soon as we are able, we intend to follow in our sister nurseries’ footsteps and begin in the accreditation process.
-
Newpark is proud to be the first private nursery company in the UK to become an accredited London Living Wage employer.
Our lovely Chiswick nursery has been awarded five stars for food safety in all our local authority environmental health inspections. This gives parents reassurance about the hygiene standards in our kitchen including handling of food, how food is stored and prepared, the cleanliness of our facilities and how food safety is managed.
As the nursery grows we also intend to join our sister nurseries and apply for “Millie's Mark”. In order to achieve the Millie’s Mark certification, 100% of staff working directly with the children must be qualified in Paediatric First Aid and we continue to make sure that all our staff receive this important training.
Healthy Early Years London (HEYL) recognises that a nursery is providing a significant level of support for the health, wellbeing and education of children including social and emotional health and wellbeing; speech, language and communication; healthy eating; oral health; breastfeeding and starting solid food; physical activity; independence in self-care and hygiene; immunisation and infection control and sustainability. We are proud to have been awarded the First Steps level and are working towards Bronze.
